home ec | kim learns to sew

One regret I have is not learning how to sew from my mom. Being so far away makes it less ideal for this learning, and when I found this online course I jumped at it (thankfully my mom gifted me her old sewing machine in 2008). The blog, instructions, details, and help will be available for an entire year which allows you to go at your own pace. Thank goodness because I’m already behind completely! It started on the day I flew back to Oklahoma. It’s been hectic with the travels and getting back into the swing of things at work, photography business stuff, laundry, cleaning, etc. I guess I could always find something else to do. I finally had a chance this weekend it sit down, organize and wash my fabric, figure out what else I may need, and print off all the instructions. I will try to blog about my experiences in this other adventure of mine. You will see curtains, a duvet covering, and lots more!!

Here is my small fabric stash for the time being (and note that about half the fabric is from my mom – she makes baby blankets/quilts and had lots of scraps!). Baby steps!!

I almost signed up for that as well! Did you know Rachel, one of the teachers, lives in Springfield, MO (where we used to live!). And she’s from Oklahoma originally. We have several mutual friends but I don’t actually her myself. Small world… I hope you enjoy the class and can’t wait to see all you create!

Wow! I am impressed! I don’t sew and think it’s awesome that you are learning. I can’t wait to see what you do!!!

randon + rylan | oklahoma kid photographer

As promised here are some photos of the mini session I had with my nephews. I literally had 20 minutes to do these photos. I had just gotten home from my training to teach ZumbAtomic (if you are in the Princeton area, I will be teaching very soon. Details to come!!), hopped in the shower and we were about to grab dinner! Thankfully I have Randon (3.5 years old) wrapped around my finger and he was willing to dress in whatever I wanted, put on these fabulous non-character shoes, and allowed me to spike his hair! He is no longer that little kid from last June or even from April of this year. He was a very willing participate. Now Rylan is a different story. He is your typically 1.5 toddler and into everything and anything.

He was very proud of his shoes! He normally wears Toy Story or Spider-Man character shoes, but I did some sweet talking and he was totally willing to put these snazzy slip-ons with no socks on!

He brings a smile to my face every single day!

My mom and I got this outfit for Randon when he was around the same age and I knew I wanted to reuse the outfit for these (since it was the only thing that went with what Randon was wearing).

This happens a lot with this dude. He’s been walking for awhile now, but going down the hill in my parents backyard proves to be a challenge!

A close up of the shoes! He was standing on one of the many tables w/umbrellas in my parents backyard and he was “hidden” in the umbrella.

This was pretty much Rylan the entire time when trying to get a photo of the two of them together! Love the tongue and determination!!!

Thanks for looking at my sweet and adorable nephews!!

meet courtney | princeton commercial photographer

She is an aspiring actress. A beautiful aspiring actress who spent 2.5 years in the military. She smiles with her eyes and is a natural in front of the camera. Headshots can be awkward but Courtney rocked this session. Best of luck to you on school and auditions! I’m routin’ for ya!

slideshow of oklahoma

A slideshow of some of the photos from my trip back to Oklahoma. I have another post coming of a mini session I had with the boys!

Take notice of Conner the dog when out at the pool. He goes crazy when we are in the water! The boys are little fishes in the pool (and tan as can be!)
Randon fell in love with the iPad. He’s obsessed with Toy Story anything and I downloaded an app just for him. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. And boy kids are smart these days. He knew exactly how to get out of it and get back.
And there is proof I was around too!

anthony | oklahoma newborn photographer

One of the reasons for my visit to Oklahoma last week was to cuddle and photograph Anthony with his adorable parents Megan and Jay. My husband Anthony and Jay have known each other since junior year of high school, then roomed together practically all 4 years of college (give or take a few months). They both have a mad passion for college football and have spent many Saturdays attending and watching OU football together (now it’s mad texting throughout the games!). Not long after Megan and Jay found out they were expecting a little boy, Anthony got word that they were going to be naming their son after him. It’s a huge honor and I’m so glad I was able to get some photos of him at two weeks.

Congratulations M & J on a beautiful little guy!

Megan loves turtles and has now passed along her turtle collection to their son.

Can’t forget about the first child, Zeke.
