snow overload | central jersey photographer

Although I put this in the category “all things pretty”, I’m pretty much over snow and not truly thinking it’s beautiful anymore! After 17 inches (on top of the snow that’s been on the ground since the blizzard that hit after Christmas and the storms that just keep coming!!), I’m over it! I shouldn’t complain too much because we luckily don’t have to shovel too much snow (only around our cars!) and the sun has been coming out more and more, but I’m ready for the warmer springtime weather! It’s not even February and we are struggling like this!!!

Walking outside our apartment Thursday morning! Thankfully the sun was out to give a little more dimension to the photo!

We braved it out for the sake of the seminary to get some snow shots! You probably can’t really tell by this photo but that is almost 18 inches of drifts in the middle there! See that bench to the right, yep that’s completely up to the seat! Straight ahead is Scheide Hall (left), Miller Chapel (middle), Stuart Hall (behind Miller) and the Administration building on the far right of the seminary campus.

The juncture of winter and spring together on this one tree!

Yay for the sun!!

This one almost makes me think of the last bit of fall still hanging on!

What I love most about the second photo in particular is that he had no idea I was taking his photo and he is standing the same way in the first one.

This snow is perfect snowman/igloo/snowball snow!! Here Anthony is demonstrating his snowball throwing technique!

And release!

I know you’re over the snow but I still love it! And actually seeing it all around Princeton reminds me of last February when little Owen was born. There was snow all around and we were even worried a storm might come right when he was coming. Ah snow…

Clare - January 28, 2011 - 12:39 pm

These are such beautiful pictures!!

Amy - January 28, 2011 - 2:10 pm

I am over it as well. I hear we’re getting another BIG one next week.
I am in love with the winter/spring photo of the buds. Love.

kim - January 28, 2011 - 2:10 pm

Shannon – I’m going to be photographing a birth and she was due Tuesday. Every night I go to bed I think that it’s going to be tonight when the storm hits! So glad she hasn’t gone into labor (although I’m sure she is so ready!!). I cannot believe Owen is almost one years old. He just can’t be!!!

And thanks Clare for the blog love!!!

san antonio family session

Although I didn’t mention in Kelly’s post how I know her, it’s actually through an online photography forum. It’s the same board that I know all the girls from WPPI last year. Bri is also another photographer on the board who lives in San Antonio. She and her family haven’t had family photos taken since before her daughter Lily was born 18 months ago! That is WAY too long!! I’m so glad the weather cooperated with us on the morning I flew out as we walked around downtown San Antonio for these photos. Thanks Bri and Jared!!

This one makes me chuckle because he was looking hard for Curious George in my camera!

shannon | central jersey senior photographer

The last afternoon/evening while in San Antonio, Kelly and I met up with her cousin Shannon to get some senior photos. First to note (and I forget this being away from the South for 3 years), Shannon drives a Ford F3000 or something ridiculous like that! I couldn’t even get into the thing it was that large! Seeing her drive that thing made me chuckle!!ย  It was a blast to walk around with another photographer and collaborate during the entire session. I’d find a spot or Kelly would and we were able to put our own spin on each photo. Thanks Shannon for being open to all our ideas – you are simply beautiful!! (To see Kelly’s photos, click here!)

the beautiful kelly

The last full day of the Imaging Conference, the sun finally came out! Thankfully my roomie Kelly was up for skipping some of the classes to walk along the Riverwalk and snap photos along the way! Here is a little sneak peek of her adorableness!!

I also have photos to share from a little mini session we did with Kelly’s cousin Shannon that same evening along with a family session from the next morning.

five on friday 2011 | central jersey photographer

1. Imaging USA was a blast! I adore my roomies and all the other photographers I was able to meet. Hopefully I’ll get a review up once I process ALL the incredible information!

2. I am very over snow and the cold! Last winter was brutal enough when we got dumped upon three times in as many weeks in February and the trend has started earlier this year! I wish that when the cold comes that people wouldn’t hibernate! I miss seeing people out walking, playing with their kids, etc. Obviously I know why but I hate that we all stay inside so much (I’m totally guilty of this – I get out to teach Zumba Gold and that’s about it!)

3. I know I always mention my dirty-little-pleasures in regards to music in these five on fridays and this week is no different! While in Oklahoma, we heard a lot of Thinking ’bout Something by none other than Hanson – the same ones who sang MMMMBOOP. The new album has a very fun, upbeat, funky vibe to it. When we came back to NJ, I ended up purchasing their entire album and I really love it!

4. I have written many goals (personal and business) out in a little journal and one is that I really want to read at least 50 books in 2011! I read 44 in 2010 (I know this because I have Goodreads to keep track for me!) so I’m really going to push myself. I also will finish my home ec assignments!!

5. Another reason (that I didn’t mention in my away post) why I wanted to get photos of Anthony and his brothers is because I create a calendar every year for my mom and my mother-in-law. I didn’t have an issue with photos for my mom’s calendar because I went back to Oklahoma several times and we went to Florida together. For my mother-in-law, I had lots of photos of Anthony + I and none of the other boys. I was able to get some of their new puppy Bella and their other dog Jake and then a variety of the boys together and then individual. My mom’s is printed on 5×5 photo paper with a linen texture (she keeps it at her work desk under some glass) and my mother-in-laws is 8×8. She has it hanging up in her classroom at school. Now that they have both received their respective calendars, here are a few photos. If you are interested in seeing all the months,ย  I’ll probably upload them to my fickr page in the next week or so.

I’m so jealous that you got to go to imaging! I am going for sure to either that or wppi next year! Adorable calendars. I’ve done it the past 2 years and my family loves them!

Nicole - January 21, 2011 - 5:07 pm

Cute calendars! I should do those sometime. And I’m glad you have so much fun at Imaging! I wish I could have gone!
