wide open spaces | west windsor child photographer

The beginning of August I started to doing some major purging in our home. First off because we have so.much.stuff (and embarrassingly it’s just two of us who live in this 900+ square foot place!). Secondly I’m anticipating a move next summer. It never fails that there are a handful of boxes that continue to make move after move, without actually unpacking or utilizing the items. Why on earth do we, as humans, hold on to stuff like that?!?! I’m making it my mission from now until the day we pack this place up, to not move anything that hasn’t been used in some form or fashion within the last two years.

All of that to say, in the midst of cleaning/purging, I found these two pettiskirts my mom made several years back. It was time to pass them along to little girls who will use them in play. Maya and Lily were the two that popped into my mind right away. These two did a fabulous job modeling them on the most perfect evening in a fun field nearby!

Posers!!!

Both girls take dance, so I asked them to give me their best swirl.

beautiful girls and beautiful photos 🙂

five on friday | august edition

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Five on Friday. Last day of the month (essentially!).

1. If you follow me on instagram you may have seen a photo or two from my time in Orlando at the Zumba Instructor Convention. It’s literally taken me two weeks to recover from all the chatting, dancing, shaking, and grooving but I’m revitalized to take on this fall season! (that last photo is me with my closest 7000+ friends at the largest Zumba fitness concerts – we worked it hard for two hours straight!)

2. Talking about fall, the teasers of cooler weather in the mornings/evenings, the smells in the air, make me think what on earth has happened to summer?!?! It’s still August and there have been several times jackets have been pulled out. Though I can’t lie – I’m anxious for pumpkin muffins, hearty stews, sitting by the fire (okay who am I kidding, we don’t have a fire place, but imagine with me people!!!), leaves changing and so many gorgeous family sessions!

3. I’ve been on a bit of a reading kick (that seems to happen regularly during the summers, even though things don’t slow down around here!!). Have you read any good books lately? My TBR pile is growing every so largely due to my inability to request books at the library in an order that allows me time to enjoy them. Seriously do you see this pile?!?! You can also see what I’ve read and view my ratings on goodreads.

4. Candy Crush. Pretty much all I have to say. How many of you are addicted?!?! I’m fairly competitive by nature and I have this internal struggle of “beating” my mom to the top. Right now I’m “winning” (pretty much this happens in my mind only!) and now have to not-so-patiently wait for them to update the game again. Yep, that’s right, I’m all the way at the top. Addiction I tell you.

5. NOW is the time to book your fall photo session. My schedule is filling up fast and I may not be able to take last minute requests! Email me now to reserve your date!

brothers in hopewell | central jersey child photographer

The week we had that massive heat wave in New Jersey – Wendy and I got up super early with her boys to do a photo session! Crazy how kids don’t show the sweat and heat like us adults. By the end of the session, mom + I were drenched. These two looked flawless! It was fun to wonder around Kunkle Park in Hopewell, I always love a new location for sessions!

P.S. Once again I’m going to show the majority of these photos in B&W, they really just speak more to me this go round!

Serious face!

saying goodbye | princeton family photographer

It’s that time of year in the graduate school community – of welcoming new friends, of grilling out, saying goodbye to neighbors/friends, and wishing everyone well. Next year it will be our year of packing up and moving on. I already have a knot in my stomach thinking about that. But back to the reason for this post! This sweet family moved in last summer and we sure were hoping we could keep them around longer than one year. The kids brighten up the playground, gave us endless hours of entertainment when grilling out, and we out here in CRW will miss them terribly. Lots of luck and best wishes on your move to Colorado!!

To honor living in Princeton for a year, we met up on the hottest day of the 2013, and rode a few tigers on campus!

Thinking face?!?!

Dare you not to smile!!

Shoo fly don’t bother me.
